What happens when a human resources professional wakes up one morning and realizes that the little company she joined a year ago has grown to 18 offices across several countries? Suddenly, hundreds of employees need training, their training needs to be tracked, and performance evaluations have to be conducted, across multiple time zones, and on many different levels.
For Marcy Bienvenu, the human resources manager at Edgen Murray, a pipe and pipe-fitting distribution company, this was her reality. After listening to Bienvenu’s needs, Flying Fish was able to design a system custom-tailored to their needs.
Simplicity was the key. “The learning management system we developed for Edgen streamlined their review process and eliminated a majority of ‘time-wasters’ that resulted from using traditional, hard-copy methods of communication” said Peter Ranzino, president and CEO of Flying Fish.
“Once we explained to Flying Fish what we wanted, they were able to design a complete online performance evaluation package for us. We now have all our performance evaluations online and senior managers are free to concentrate on more strategic issues” said Bienvenu.
CITGO Petroleum Corporation was in a similar situation, but from a much bigger perspective. Dee Samudio, e-learning and technology development manager, was sure that the best way to implement an online talent management system was from a perspective that focused first and foremost on human capital. Much like Edgen, CITGO was trying to figure out how to manage its most valuable resource – its employees – and make sure that across-the-board, the company was excelling at talent management, which includes employee development planning, training, leadership development, resources, learning management and succession planning.
Another organization, Synergy Healthcare Group, Inc, was faced with a learning problem. It was also dealing with rapid growth and new offices with employees who required frequent training. The system Synergy was working with was unable to keep the pace with the rate at which the company was growing. As a result, it was facing massive difficulties in e-Learning, as well as problems with training new employees and ongoing training of existing employees.
The solution, for all three of these major players in their respective areas, was partnering with Baton Rouge-based Flying Fish.
Flying Fish has gained a stellar reputation for consistently being able to deliver initiatives that support the strategic plan and goals of an organization. In a nutshell, Flying Fish helps organizations prepare their workforce for any initiatives senior management plans to implement.
“Our philosophy is we don’t simply offer a product to a client, but rather, we partner with each individual client to find a real solution to their specific needs. No matter how big or small a company, no two companies are exactly the same. We believe that our key differential is tailoring every project to the client’s needs, as opposed to tailoring a client to fit our technologies,” says Peter Ranzino, president and founder of Flying Fish.
